According to green activists, Winchester will go into carbon debt in 2008.
This is, of course, as a result of the city’s bigger than usual carbon footprint.
A report from the World Wildlife Fund has shown that residents, and businesses alike, are contributing more to climate change than any other area in the UK.
With 2008 being only 101 days old it has come to light that the city has already produced its carbon allowance for the year.
The report has caused alarm among green activists; who have made calls for local government, residents and businesses to take action.
